NYC 2022 Day 1

NYC Mission Trip Day 1 – Travel & Training

Our team, students & adults have committed to reading through the book of Acts while on this mission trip. I will be putting the reading guide at the bottom of this post in case you’re interested in reading along with us.

We had a super busy day. We pulled into Dallas at lunch and grabbed some food before heading up to The Hill (Dallas Baptist University). iGo had a busy day of training planned. We talked through their core values, why we’re going, and some strategy on sharing the gospel. They put our kids through fake airport security in a fake country, Igosia. Lance Shumake and the iGo team did a great job getting our team ready for NYC.

Couple of lessons we learned today. Ask for help when you need it. iGo had a cool illustration for teaching the kids to ask for help. They had them walking blindfolded around a circle holding a rope, the only way to get out was to ask for help. Needless to say, some of us got out a lot faster than others.

Probably the most important thing we learned was actually the first value of iGo. The first value of iGo was “The Bottom Line.” The bottom line is that it is all meant to give glory to God. We talked about cool stories in the Bible that point to this idea. Ruth, Daniel, Jesus, etc… some great stories where God truly blesses people, but that isn’t the bottom line, the bottom line is the glory of God.

Here is the reading plan for our students and some pictures from our day:
