Pray for Our Students in NYC

We are very excited to be heading out tomorrow (June 26th) with our upper-classmen and some of our college students to serve for a week in NYC. We will leave early to go to Dallas and spend the afternoon training with one of our ministry partners (iGo), before catching a plane on Monday morning for NYC. Once there we will be working with Global Gates.

Global Gates exists to reach the ends of the earth through global gateway cities. Their mission is to raise the missions climate in these cities, mobilize ministries, plant reproducing churches, and more. At the center, Global Gates desires to see the gospel reach the most unreached people groups who have come to gateway cities. Global Gates is a mission partner of FBC-Midland.

While in NYC, we will have the opportunity to work with Middle Eastern and North African refugees who have made the borough of Queens their home. While there, we will meet people in parks, eat in their restaurants and spend time doing life with unreached people in New York City. We will help build the relationship between missionaries in NYC and the people of NYC so that they can minister to them better.

A typical day for us in NYC will look something like this: We’ll get up and have breakfast before spending time reading scripture and worshipping. After worship, we’ll spend some time in training with our local missionary. We’ll spend the afternoon and early evening building relationships and connecting with people in the area. Ministry will take several forms fitting the situation and the person. We’ll be having conversations, playing some pickup basketball and who knows what else. Each evening we’ll gather to reflect on the day and worship. Our last day in the city we’ll spend seeing some sights in Manhattan.
